Army applicant murdered by fellow candidates over ₦800,000 in Zaria

A gruesome incident occurred in Zaria, Kaduna State, where some applicants vying for a spot in the Nigerian Army Depot allegedly hacked a fellow applicant to death.

It was gathered that the victim, who hailed from Gombe State, had reportedly received nearly N1 million from his parents to facilitate his recruitment.

Suspicions arose when the deceased shared his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and password with a friend to withdraw ₦10,000 for food.

It was also gathered that the friend and others, now suspected of orchestrating the murder, withdrew ₦800,000 from the victim’s account.

The lifeless body was discovered on Saturday morning in the PZ area of Sabon-Gari Local Government, with visible knife wounds.

The incident has been reported to the authorities, and the body has been deposited at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shola, also in Zaria.

However, the Nigerian Army and police have yet to comment on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
