Army, Gana boys clash in Benue

The Nigerian Army has dispersed a group of militants in Adu town of Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, injuring several militants while others escaped.

Navy Commander Abdulsalam Sani told VOA that Operation Whirl Stroke had later received intelligence that some militants had attacked and killed them. two of them and two home-made assault rifles were recovered.

In a separate clash, the army clashed with some of the gunmen of the late Mr. Terwase and also called Ghana, which was recently destroyed in Benue State. The clashes took place in Sai village in Katsina Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, and three gunmen were arrested and 16 mobile phones, ammunition and drugs were recovered.

Sani added that the troops had occupied the areas where the militants had been driven out and were patrolling the area to ensure that the militants did not return.

According to security expert Professor Mohammed Tukur Baba Dan Iyan Mutum Biyu, governments need to end the practice of not pardoning terrorists if the security situation in Nigeria is to be addressed and they should be punished.
