Joint security operatives comprising the Nigerian Army and the police have successfully thwarted an attack by suspected bandits on Ankpali Village in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State in the early hours of Wednesday.

Following the distress call, additional troops from the Nigerian Army, alongside operatives of the 80 Police Mobile Force (PMF), were swiftly deployed to reinforce personnel already on ground.
A gun battle reportedly ensued, forcing the attackers to flee the area.
During the exchange, one of the bandits was neutralised, and his remains were recovered and taken to a nearby mortuary.
Security officials confirmed that a manhunt has been launched to trace and arrest the fleeing suspects linked to the attack.
Meanwhile, residents of Ankpali Village have praised the prompt action of the security agencies, saying their timely intervention averted possible casualties and destruction of property.
