As Arsenal gears up for the FA Community Shield clash against Manchester City, manager Mikel Arteta addressed the media, assuring them that striker Gabriel Jesus is on the road to recovery.
The Gunners secured their spot in the showpiece event by finishing second in the Premier League, while Manchester City clinched the FA Cup and the league title, completing a treble-winning season.
Regarding Gabriel Jesus, Arteta stated, “He’s fine. He’s obviously disappointed because he was feeling good, and then this unexpected issue arose. We had to undergo a minor procedure, but it was the best course of action for a speedy recovery. We made that decision, and I’m confident he will be back on the pitch soon and fully fit.”
As Arsenal prepares for the Community Shield, Arteta also touched upon the competition between Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard for a starting spot. Nketiah expressed his determination to contribute to the team and deliver when called upon by the manager.
“I believe in my abilities, and I know I can contribute. The manager has a tough decision, and whenever he calls me, I’m ready to help the team and achieve our goals collectively,” Nketiah stated.
