Mikel Arteta has provided an optimistic update on Kai Havertz’s recovery, suggesting the Arsenal forward could return to action before the end of the season, potentially boosting the Gunners’ push for Champions League glory.
Initially, Havertz was expected to miss the remainder of the campaign after suffering a hamstring injury during the team’s training camp in Dubai back in February.
The Germany international required surgery, but recent videos on social media showed Havertz intensifying his rehabilitation, raising hopes that he might be fit in time for a possible Champions League final appearance.
Arsenal delivered a dominant 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in the first leg of their quarter-final on Tuesday, as they look to claim the prestigious tournament for the first time in the club’s history.
Ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match against Brentford, Arteta provided a positive update on Havertz’s recovery, offering encouragement to both the player and fans.
“Hopefully we can have him back before the end of season,” he told reporters on Friday.
“Let’s see. Every injury isn’t the same. Great work ethic, desperate to get back playing as quick as possible – and a great medical staff as well to look after them.
“Once you get to the last stage of that rehab, you can understand better how close or far you are to make that next step.”
