Asari Dokubo vows to form alliance with north to remove Tinubu from power in 2027

Former militant leader Asari Dokubo has announced plans to form an alliance with the North in preparation for the 2027 presidential election, claiming President Bola Tinubu betrayed him after his support during the 2023 election.

In a recent video, Asari reflected on his financial sacrifices to campaign for Tinubu, expressing feelings of betrayal following the president’s rise to power. He stated, “I apologize to our fathers for not recognizing the importance of an alliance with the North, and as young men, we will now initiate that same alliance.”

He emphasized his determination to collaborate with Northern leaders, declaring, “From today, I will work to form an alliance with the North. President Tinubu betrayed me after I emptied my bank account campaigning for him. The Tinubu I know now isn’t the Tinubu I once knew. We will spread the message that only the Northerners can effectively work with the Ijaw people.”

Asari further criticized the Yoruba people, saying, “We can’t work with Yoruba people; they are a betrayal to us. We risked our lives by voting and doing everything, and this is the outcome?”

His remarks come at a time when opposition parties are reportedly considering forming a coalition. Earlier this year, political scientist Pat Utomi revealed that he had consulted with key opposition figures, including PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and NNPP’s Rabiu Kwankwaso, about establishing a new political party.

Recently, Utomi confirmed that the trio has agreed to form a coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the upcoming 2027 elections.
