Ashimiu Lawal: Gunmen assassinate motorcyclist, flee with bike in Ogun

Gunmen, on Sunday, 13 Feb, 2022, shot dead a motorcyclist identified as Ashimiu Lawal and took his motorcycle away in the Leme area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The lifeless body of the victim was taken to an undisclosed morgue by men of the State Police Command in the early hours of Sunday.

It was gathered that there was a bullet wound on Lawal’s body.

A relative of the deceased, Akintunde Sanni, explained that a passerby, who saw Lawal’s lifeless body by the road, rushed to inform his family about the incident.

“It is a painful thing. I was not at the scene and there was no eyewitness, who can tell us what exactly happened. Our brother’s body has been deposited in the morgue by a police patrol team,” Sanni stated.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

He added that the police had commenced investigation to unravel those behind Lawal’s killing.

“We have commenced investigation into the incident. We will get to the root of the matter,” the PPRO added.
