..Reveals why he’s most qualified candidate
Comrade Abba Moro, the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday laughed off the statement by Usman Abubakar, of the Advance Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), asking him to step down from the race.
Moro said it was ridiculous that Abubakar, otherwise known Young Alhaji was asking him him to step down for him just few days to the poll.
The former Minister of Interior made this known while speaking on a live broadcast Programme, The Manifesto on Joy FM in Otukpo.
The senatorial seat hopeful said he did not at any point endorse Abubakar for Senate during the 2016 rerun election, saying that the video being circulated by Young Alhaji and his followers was a misrepresentation of fact.
“Asking me to step down for him few days to election is ridiculous. You can’t wake up from no where and ask a candidate who was fully nominated by his party to step down for you for no reason.
“We are all in the race. You need to tell the people about your manifesto and why they should vote for you.
“It is an election and it is open to everyone.
“For the video being circulated online where I was quoted to have endorsed him in 2016. That is just a misrepresentation of fact.
“I did not at any point endorse Alhaji. In 2016, during the rerun, he volunteered to work for us and we were all happy.
“During our rally in Orokam, I told them that Alhaji has no doubt done well for the people but this time around, it would be better for everyone (including him) to support Senator Mark to win the election so in 2019, anybody interested in the seat, including him could join the race since he would be stepping aside.
“How did I endorse him?”
Moro went further to say that he was the most suitable candidate for the position in the sense that he has served in different capacities and levels of government.
“I have served as a Director General of the campaign organization of the former Senate President, Dist. Sen. David Mark twice, I have served as the Benue State campaign director for Alhaji Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
“I also served as a local government chairman in Okpokwu for about seven years. I have served as a minister of the Federal republic, where I influenced the appointment of the present Comptroller General of the Nigerian Fire Service.
“I am the aware of the multi-billion naira dam project in Akpa, which was influenced senator Mark and I would make sure they are completed.
