The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has denied opposing the January 18 resumption of public universities in the country as widely reported.
Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), on Wednesday, debunked claims of the union’s opposition to the reopening of the nation’s public universities on January 18.
Ogunyemi explained that the position of the union was that both the government and university authorities have not complied with the COVID-19 guidelines spelt out for resumption before lecturers and students are allowed to return for learning.
Recall that the union had earlier said it was not in support of the January 18th resumption of public universities citing the COVID-19 virus as her reason.
The government has on Wednesday said there was no going back on the January 18th resumption of schools across the country even as the nation enter its second wave of COVID-19.
