ASUU strike: Benue law student drags Buhari, Nigeria Governors, others to court

A 500 level Law student of Benue State University, Makurdi, identified as Soohemba Agatha Aker has dragged President Muhamadu Buhari, Ministers, Senators and others to court over the prolonged ASUU strike in the country.

Alert is asking the court to stop the salaries of President Buhari, governors, and all political leaders in the country until the final resolution and end of the strike.

She seeks a similar order against the Chief of Staff, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, all Senators, House of Representative members, Vice Chancellors, Ministers among others.

In the suit filed by her counsel, Chukwuma Machukwu Ume SAN, the applicant is seeking an order of mandamus compelling the defendants to return to the first respondents their monthly salaries, allowances, and other benefits recieved individually or collectively from the day the strike commenced till date , pending the hearing and determination of the originating motion.

She further asked for an order of interlocutory injunction suspending payment of salaries of all public officials pending the hearing and determination of the suit.

She said ASUU strike has and continues to affect her adversely as her plans of graduating this academic year and applying for law school has been thwarted by the strike.
