ASUU strike: Update from Benue State University

Several branches of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have voted overwhelmingly for members in both federal and state universities to embark on an indefinite strike to press home the implementation of their demands.

ASUU branches nationwide on Friday held a referendum in line with an earlier directive by the National Executive Council (NEC) to vote whether the strike will be indefinite strike, one month strike, one week warning and no strike.
However, checks on Monday by IDOMA VOICE at the Benue State University, Makurdi have it that academic activities have stopped.
Our correspondent, who visited the institution on Monday test in some department have been suspended indefinitely.
However, an inside, who spoke with our reporter, said the school might join the strike, noting that the ASUU BSU chapter just returned from industrial action less than a month.
