Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections, made his first public appearance on Friday following the Supreme Court’s judgment.
As reported by Naija News, the Supreme Court had dismissed all appeals against President Bola Tinubu’s victory, upholding the tribunal’s decision held at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
Atiku had filed an application to introduce fresh evidence concerning Tinubu’s diploma certificate from Chicago State University (CSU), which the president presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, the court ruled that it lacked jurisdiction to admit new evidence.
Despite the court’s decision, Atiku took to social media to share his activities. Hours after the judgment, he attended the Jumat prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja and shared photos.
In a post, the former Vice President mentioned that, following the Jumat service, a prayer session was held during the wedding fatiha of the daughter of the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Ambassador Umar Damagum. He wrote, “At the National Mosque after the Jumat service, along with other dignitaries, we held a prayer session during the wedding Fatiha of the daughter of the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ambassador Umar Damagum.”
