Atiku reveals those who attacked his convoy in Borno
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has accused political leaders in Bonro State as the mastermind of the attack on his convoy during the week.
The former VP also assured that before the general elections, the agitation by the G-5 Governors of the party would be brought to an end.
Atiku told journalists shortly after a closed-door meeting with former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida at his hilltop mansion in Minna, Niger State.
“The Borno incident is most unfortunate, we signed a peace accord and it is unfortunate; the whole thing was sponsored by the political leadership of the state,” Atiku stated.
Assuring Nigerians of efforts to end the ongoing boycott of the presidential campaign by the group of G-5 governors, Atiku said: “The impasse is a family affair and it will be resolved before the 2023 presidential election. You will see a very, very united and strong PDP that will face the elections.”
According to him: “We will continue to come and pay our respect to them and remind them of their contribution to this country. We consider them fathers of post-war independence and they also nurse the current democratic dispensation in the country.”
Party stalwarts on the visit include Lt. General Aliyu Gusau, PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, DG Presidential Campaign Council, Governor Aminu Tambuwal and Governor Dahiriu Ishiaku of Taraba State.
Others are the campaign council spokesman, Senator Dino Melaye, former Niger State governor, Muazu Babangida Aliyu, former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido and former governor of Adamawa State, Mr Boni Haruna among others.
