The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh on Saturday commenced the distribution of farm machinery to farmers in Benue State.
The exercise which took place at Oja Village, Okpomaju in Otukpo Local Govt area of Benue state, aims to ease farmers burden and gradually bring an end to farmers-herders clashes in the region.
Speaking during the exercise, the Minister said making the handy machinery available in a village like oja is in line with the Ministry’s duty of taking life to the rural areas through agricultural mechanization; thereby boosting their economic potentials.
The Agricultural machinery distributed includes reapers, threshers and cattle feed mill machines, all locally fabricated in Nigeria.
Ogbeh went further to another feather to his cap with the conferment of a chieftaincy title by the Och’Otukpo Odu, Chief John O. Eimonye.
The Otukpo traditional council awarded Chief Ogbeh the “Ogleji ko’Otukpo” meaning “The great farmer” of Otukpo.
The well deserved title is reserved for people with great accomplishment in farming.
The Minister also received the late Ochanya’s caregiver with children of the Orphanage where the deceased spent her last days.
