Babachir Lawal blasts Tinubu, says APC Muslim-Muslim ticket ‘satanic’

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal has lambasted the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for picking Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

IDOMA VOICE reports that Tinubu’s decision to pick Shettima, a former Borno State Governor, as his running mate has drawn widespread criticism as both men are Muslims.

In a lengthy essay on Tuesday night, Lawal described Tinubu’s decision as “disastrous error”.

He stated that although Tinubu remained “a very good man”, great listener, humble and “very generous in both cash and kind, especially where it could advance his political interests”, he had realised that it had been in the nature of power that “sycophants and lapdogs have the most influence on leaders with such character traits.”

According to the former SGF, Tinubu had in the past surrounded himself with smart, street-wise “guys that could tell truth to power.”

He noted that Tinubu had Rauf Aregbesola, Yemi Osinbajo, Babatunde Fashola, Dele Alake, Muiz Banire, etc, adding that Lagos days were the days of think-tanks, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, principles and ideologies.

Babachir warned that there will consequences for Tinubu’s choice, adding that these consequences Christians all over the country revolting against the APC to put the chances of his election in serious jeopardy.
