Premier League giants, Liverpool are closely monitoring PSV Eindhoven’s winger, Johan Bakayoko, as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah if he decides to depart the club.
The cherished Egyptian international at Anfield has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League and might be enticed by the prospect of a lucrative foreign contract. Al-Ittihad is reportedly preparing a staggering £200 million offer to test Jurgen Klopp’s insistence that Salah is not available for transfer.
Salah has already contributed four goals for Liverpool this season, and they currently trail league leaders Manchester City by just two points as they head into the international break. Should Salah make the move to Saudi Arabia before their transfer window closes on September 7th, Liverpool could find themselves short-handed until January when they can secure a replacement.
According to reports from The Daily Express, the 2019 Champions League champions have already identified Bakayoko as a potential alternative to their fleet-footed winger, in a deal that could potentially reach £45 million.
Bakayoko, who is only 20 years old, has enjoyed a promising start to the new season, aiding PSV in reaching the Champions League group stage and achieving a perfect start in the Eredivisie.
The report also indicates that Brentford made a late push to acquire the young talent during the transfer window’s closing days. However, the budding star opted to decline a £34 million move in favor of staying with his current club and continuing to play in European competitions.
