A 27-year-old man, Piti Ezekiel, was killed, and five others were abducted during a bandit attack on Akansan Garmadi, Rumaya Community, Kwassam Ward, Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

The abducted victims were identified as Afiniki Baban Gida (46), Afiniki Timothy (41), Talatu Timothy (40), Manayi Abu (36), and Richard Dalhatu (42). A traditional title holder, Mr. Timothy Daure (48), survived with gunshot injuries.

Danbaba Katuka, National Secretary of the Kauru Local Government CDAs Forum, revealed that the attack occurred on Thursday around 10:30 pm, with bandits shooting sporadically before taking the victims away.

Kauru has recently experienced a series of bandit attacks, displacing residents and crippling economic activities. Katuka described the incident as the first in the community, urging swift government intervention to prevent further devastation.

He emphasized the need for decisive military action to flush out the bandits, noting that fear of attacks has forced many residents to abandon their homes and farms.

Efforts to reach DSP Mansir Hassan, Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, for confirmation were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
