Bandits attack Kaduna market, kill scores, injure several others

Bandits last night (Wednesday) invaded Kachia town in Kachia local government area of Kaduna State, killing an unspecified number of people and injuring others.

A source explained that the bandits invaded Kachia around 10:15 pm and operated for almost two hours before the security agencies intervened to save the situation.

The source said that the bandits did their operation around the Kachia market before the military intervened to bring the situation under control.

Kachia is housing a formidable military formation comprising the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy where they are receiving various training.

The source revealed that the bandits targeted grains and other food items being uploaded at the market in preparation for the Friday market.

According to the source, “The arrival of the military personnel saved the situation but before their (military) arrival, many people were killed. The main target of the bandits was to steal food items and kidnap people for ransom.”

He said the Kachia market is held on Friday and traders from far away always bring their grains and other food items from Wednesday to late Thursday and offload them in the market.

The source made it known that those that were injured
are presently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Kachia.

Recall that one of the leaders that led the kidnapping of the Greenfield University, Kaduna, had vowed to embark on different styles of kidnapping in the Southern part of the State.
