Bandits attack Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, kill lecturer, kidnap two othersSuspected bandits have attacked the main campus of the Kaduna State-owned Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria.

The main campus, also known as UPE, is situated along Kaduna-Kano highway.

Rector of the school, Engineer Kabir Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident to Blueprint newspaper, said the bandits gained entrance into the school around 9pm on Saturday.

“I was in Kaduna when the Chief Security Officer of the college called me and informed me about the attack.

“It is true that suspected armed bandits have kidnapped one of my staff, Engineer Bello Atiku who is the Head of Department, Computer Engineering of the school.

“He was also kidnapped along with two children to an unknown destination,” the rector said, adding that one other staff, Sunusi Hassan, was shot in the hand and is receiving medical attention.

He attributed the incident to the porous nature of the school which leaves it vulnerable to infiltration.

Dateline Nigeria reports that the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria has suffered a number of kidnappings for ransom by suspected bandits.

Spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Muhammed Jalige, also confirmed the attack.
