The Katsina State Police Command successfully rescued eight kidnapped victims and foiled several abduction attempts by suspected bandits in Faskari and Danmusa Local Government Areas.
In a statement issued on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, detailed the operations. He reported that on October 7, 2024, around 11:00 p.m., the Danmusa Divisional Police Headquarters received information that four armed bandits had abducted two women on the outskirts of Matarau village in Danmusa LGA.
On the same day, distress calls were received at Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters about armed bandits blocking the Marabar Bangori–Unguwar Boka section of the Funtua-Gusau road, where four individuals were kidnapped. Additionally, two women and their children were abducted by bandits at Unguwar Kafa junction along the Yankara–Faskari road.
Upon receiving these reports, police operatives were dispatched to the crime scenes, where they engaged the bandits in a gunfight. All eight kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed, while the assailants fled with gunshot wounds.
The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, commended the officers for their bravery and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating crime and criminality across the state.
