Bandits kill and abduct many villagers in Zamfara community

Suspected terrorists in Kwatar community, near Gidan Zala, Kotorkoshi district of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, has left many dead and several villagers kidnapped. The bandits struck the community during the early hours of Friday, with no immediate intervention from security operatives.

According to a local police officer named Ismaila, the attack resulted in the deaths of numerous villagers, while others were abducted. Many survivors suffered varying degrees of injuries during the violent operation by the terrorists. Ismaila, who lost his father, elder brother, and sister-in-law, recounted the devastating impact of the assault.

As a consequence of the terror unleashed on their community, almost all the surviving villagers have fled in fear of the bandits’ potential return.

Ya’u Ibrahim, another villager, shared the harrowing experience, highlighting that many residents sustained severe injuries while attempting to escape the brutal attack.

The situation in Zamfara State has become dire, with armed bandits showing no restraint. On the same day, another village near Dangibga village in Tsafe Local Government Area was also targeted by these criminals, though the extent of the casualties remains undisclosed at this time.

As the security situation worsens, residents are calling on the Federal Government to urgently declare a state of emergency in the state, hoping for measures to restore peace and security.

Efforts to obtain comments from the police were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazeed Abdulahi, did not respond to calls.
