Bandits strike in Kasuwa-Daji Town, kill two policemen, kidnap 40 in Zamfara

Two policemen and two residents have been killed by bandits in Kasuwa-Daji Town, located in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Additionally, approximately 40 individuals were abducted during the assault on the town.

According to accounts from residents, the bandits launched their attack in the early hours of Tuesday, initiating indiscriminate shooting to spread fear. Witnesses reported that the assailants arrived with sophisticated weaponry, including anti-aircraft guns.

Among their targets was the residence of the former State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Hamisu Kasuwar-Daji. One of his wives and grandchildren were abducted during the raid on his home, which is situated near a local police station.

During the attack on the police station, the bandits overpowered the officers on duty, resulting in the deaths of two policemen. Additionally, two residents were killed in the violence.

The bandits conducted a house-to-house raid, resulting in the abduction of around 40 individuals, according to a resident who spoke anonymously for security reasons.

Yazid Abubakar, spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that additional troops have been deployed by the Commissioner of Police to restore peace and order in the affected town.
