Renowned financial expert and philantropsit, Barrister Boniface Agada Apochi (Okelagwo K’Idoma), has announced the establishment of a ₦100 million trust fund in memory of his late mother, Mama Elizabeth Apochi, fondly called Mama Udaburu.

The fund, unveiled on behalf of his siblings, recently during the burial of the mother, is aimed at sustaining her legacy of generosity and supporting the less privileged.

In his tribute, Barrister Boniface Agada Apochi described his late mother as the greatest influence on his life, particularly in the area of generosity and service to humanity.

He recalled that Mama Udaburu never turned anyone away empty-handed, no matter how little she had and that her open hands lifted many out of despair.

According to him, one of the most enduring lessons she left behind was the value of giving.

“My mother taught me the act of generosity. She always believed that true wealth is measured by how many lives you touch. Even in her lifetime, she gave tirelessly to the community and now that she is gone, I believe one of the best ways to sustain her legacy is through this trust fund,” Apochi said.

He explained that the ₦100 million trust fund was conceived as a channel through which Mama Udaburu’s kindness would continue to flow, even after her death.

“Through this fund, Mama’s hands of compassion will never stop reaching out. Even in her grave, she will continue to help the people, educate children, empower families and put smiles on the faces of those in need. That is the true spirit of my mother and we, her children, are only custodians of that legacy,” he added.

Apochi further urged the community to see the fund not only as a family initiative but as a collective heritage that should inspire others to embrace a life of selflessness and compassion.

Mama Elizabeth Apochi, passed away on July 10, 2025, at the age of 75.

Her death came as a shock to many in the community, as she had been seen the previous day going about her usual activities with strength and grace.

Described as a hardworking trader and devoted wife to the late Chief Emmanuel Apochi, Onagene of Ai-Amuche, Mama Udaburu was praised for raising successful children, three of whom became lawyers, while her first son served as a respected civil servant.
