Bartholomew Onyeka now Benue State Commissioner of Police

Benue State’s police command has announced the appointment of Bartholomew Onyeka as its new Commissioner of Police. In a statement issued by SP Sewuese Anene, the state’s police public relations officer in Makurdi, it was revealed that Mr. Onyeka has officially assumed his role.

Bartholomew Onyeka’s career in law enforcement began on March 3, 1990, when he joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. Over the years, he has served in various operational, administrative, and investigative capacities in different states across the country.

Among his notable positions, he has held roles such as commander of Operation Smash, Operation Rescue, Operation Festival, and Operation Fire for Fire, all within Imo Command. He has also held positions such as Assistant Commissioner of Police, Administration, Abia Command; Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration (DCPA), Imo Command; DCPA, Zamfara Command; and DCPA, Zone 1 Kano State.

Mr. Onyeka’s dedication and contributions led to his promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police on June 3, 2021, and subsequent posting as CP In-Charge Force Communication at Force Headquarters in Abuja. He also served as the Commissioner of Police for Plateau State Command from November 4, 2021, to August 2, 2023, before assuming his new role in Benue State.
