Bayelsa residents invade warehouse, loot palliatives

Published

on

Reports indicate that a group of citizens from Bayelsa State has forcibly entered a warehouse where palliatives were stored for distribution to a specific group of individuals.

The warehouse, situated along Isaac Boro Expressway in Yenagoa, the state capital, was reportedly raided on Sunday.

Sources suggest that the individuals were driven by frustration caused by the challenging economic conditions in the country following the removal of subsidies on Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol.

It remains unclear whether the looted warehouse contained food supplies earmarked for distribution to states as part of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal. There are speculations that the looted palliatives were originally intended for individuals affected by flooding in the state.

As of the time of this report, the state government has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
