Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich’s Sporting Director, has confirmed that Liverpool forward Sadio Mane will join the club this summer.
Bayern Munich has been in talks with Liverpool about signing Sadio Mane since the end of the 2021/2022 season, and a deal was eventually struck on Friday.
After much negotiating, the two clubs decided on a price that was barely below Liverpool’s initial £40 million asking price and Mane is said to have agreed to sacrifice his own potential revenues from the trade, in order to expedite the process.
On Friday, Bayern sent over a small negotiation team to iron out the final issues, and when asked if the trip had been successful, Salihamidzic answered: “Yes, he’s coming.”
Mane’s remarkable six-year spell that saw the Senegal international score 120 goals in 269 games for Liverpool, his team winning every possible award, comes to an end with this move. He will have a physical at Bayern, and the transaction is expected to be finalised in the following days.
Mane will join a Bayern Munich team that had a poor 2021/2022 season. Despite winning their eleventh Bundesliga title in a row, Die Roten were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Villarreal and were eliminated early from the DFB-Pokal.
