BBNaija: Countdown to 2022 Big Brother reality TV show begins
Nigerians are beginning to count down to the seventh edition of Africa’s most-watched reality TV show, Big Brother Naija.
Big Brother Naija, formerly known as Big Brother Nigeria, is a Nigerian reality competition television series, based on the Big Brother television franchise, in which, contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize and other material prizes, at the end of the show by avoiding being evicted from the house by viewers who vote for their favourite housemates to remain in the show.
The show was first aired in March 2006, with Katung Aduwak emerging as its first ever winner.
After a hiatus, the show returned in January 2017 with an alias called See Gobe.
Michael Efe Ejeba of the ‘based on logistics’ was the winner of the second edition.
Double Wahala was the name tag for the 2018 edition of the show. Miracle Igbokwe was the winner.
Mercy ‘Lambo’ Eke won the June 2019 Pepper Dem edition while the 2020 edition christened Lockdown was won by fans’ favourite, Laycon, real name, Olamilekan Agbeleshe.
The show returned in 2021 with Shine Ya Eye as alias. Hazel Oyeye “Whitemoney” Onou floored 26 other contestants to pick the ₦90 million grand prize which includes a ₦30 million cash prize, cash in an Abeg digital wallet, bitcoins courtesy of Patricia, a two-bedroom apartment courtesy of RevolutionPlus Property, a top of the range SUV from a Nigerian automaker, Innoson Motors and a trip for two packaged by Travelbeta.
Already, fans of the most-watched yet highly criticized show have been impatiently and patiently waiting for the seventh edition of the reality TV show.
Sources said the 2022 edition of the show May hold in August.
Speaking with IDOMA VOICE, show fans of the show said they can’t wait for the show to return.
Ade Jones, a make-up artist said she has been bored since the show ended.
Also, Femi Desire, a student of UniAbuja said sometimes, she goes on youtube to watch the past shows just to make herself happy.
Another fan, Solomon Jambe, a civil servant said he has learnt a lot from the reality TV show.
According to him, BBNaija has taught him how to live with strangers, tolerate everyone’s strength and weakness, how to control temperament and discipline.
Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has been the host of the show in the last five editions.
