BBNaija’s Phyna publicly rejects family, drops surname

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Josephine Ijeoma Otabor, also known as Phyna, has publicly disowned her family and announced her decision to drop her surname, Otabor.

In a heartfelt post shared on her verified X account Thursday night, Phyna expressed the emotional struggles she has been facing and revealed that her family has never been supportive of her, dating back to her childhood.

She wrote: “I am publicly dropping my family surname Otabor… It has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about… I’m still searching for answers though. It’s been rough with me lately… I’m in a place where I can’t even describe how I feel or what to call what I’m going through right now. Growing up, the way I was tossed around by relatives, I should have suspected, but I was too young… omo, my head wan tear!!”

This public declaration comes months after Phyna’s father, Mr. Otabor, publicly criticized her for not assisting him and his family after her rise to fame.
