Belgian University announces €12,000 scholarships for aspiring Master’s Students

The Science@Leuven Scholarship offers outstanding international students the chance to pursue a Master’s degree in science at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium. Available for various science-related programs, the scholarship supports academically talented students with strong motivation for advanced study.

Overview of the Science@Leuven Scholarship
KU Leuven has opened applications for the Science@Leuven Scholarship 2025, which provides up to €12,000 for one academic year. This amount covers tuition, health insurance, and living expenses.

Eligible Master’s Programs
The scholarship is open to specific science programs at KU Leuven, including:

  • Master of Astronomy and Astrophysics
  • Master of Biophysics, Biochemistry and Biotechnology
  • Master of Biology
  • Master of Chemistry
  • Master of Geography
  • Interuniversity Master of Geology (specific specializations)
  • Master of Mathematics
  • Master of Physics
  • Master of Statistics and Data Science
  • Master of Sustainable Development (ICP)

Applicants interested in programs outside of these fields are not eligible for the scholarship, which is exclusively for the listed science programs.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply, students must meet these requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree: Must hold a non-Belgian bachelor’s degree that qualifies them for the chosen program.
  • Academic performance: Applicants should have an excellent academic record and show potential for continued high performance at KU Leuven.
  • Language proficiency: English proficiency is required, with minimum TOEFL scores of 94 (internet-based) or IELTS scores of 7.0 overall.
  • References: Two recommendation letters from internationally recognized professors are necessary.
  • Motivation: Applicants should show strong motivation for studying in KU Leuven’s Faculty of Science and a clear academic vision.

Scholarship Benefits
The Science@Leuven Scholarship covers:

  • Tuition fees: Complete tuition coverage for one year.
  • Health insurance: Basic health insurance for the program duration.
  • Living expenses: Financial support for living expenses.

If enrolled in a two-year Master’s program, students may renew the scholarship for the second year, provided they maintain high academic standards.

Applicants must submit:

  • Transcript of Records: Including courses, ECTS credits, and grades.
  • Letter of Motivation: A brief statement on the motivation to study at KU Leuven.
  • Reference letters: Two letters from internationally recognized professors.

Application Process

  2. Register for the Scholarship: After the program application, register for the Science@Leuven Scholarship, uploading proof of the completed program application.

Application Deadline
