Benue: 16 kidnappers arrested in Ado with AK-47 rifle, others

Officers of the Nigerian Police and Members of the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards apprehended a 16-man gang of criminal suspects in Ado Local Government Area.

They are suspected to be behind the current rise in wave of kidnapping and robbery within our domain.

“The suspects who were traveling in a space bus were found in possession of an AK-47 rifle, cutlasses, knives and clubs and have since been handed over to Operation Zenda for deeper investigation.
According to the chairman of Ado LGA, James Oche, “This became possible due to our collective decision that critical surveillance of the Otukpo-Igumale-Apa-Agila highway around us be ensured at particular hours preceding recurrent security challenges. “

“I appreciate His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom for establishing the Community Volunteer Guards who are now helping assiduously on security issues.
“We reaffirm our commitment to tackling insecurity.”
