Thousands of All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Social Democratic party (SDP) members in Oju and Obi local government areas defected to the Peoples Democratic party on tuesday 22nd January, 2019.
The defection occurred in the two local government areas during PDP governorship campaign rally.
Speaking at the two occasions, the Governor of Benue state, Dr Samuel Ortom urged the people of the areas to remain supportive of the Peoples Democratic party.
According to him, “Voting PDP is voting for the liberation of the People from the shackles of hunger, starvation and sickness.
He told the people that the government of Benue state would not be intimidated by any so called power that be stressing that he would do all within his powers to ensure the protection of life and property of the people of Benue state.
On his part, the former president of the Senate, Senator David Mark who counselled the people not to allow themselves to be deceived urged them to keep faith with the Peoples Democratic party and all her candidates.
Similarly, the member representing Obi/Oju in the Federal House of Representatives, Mr Samson Okwu urged the people that the APC government had brought untold hardship to Nigerians hence the need not to support them.
He pleaded with the people to remain supportive of the Peoples Democratic party and all her candidates in the forth coming elections.
