Benue 2019: Ortom not interested in second term – CPS, Akase
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has stated that he might not seek for second term in office come 2019.
According to the governor, he has not yet indicated interested if he would seek reelection in the next governorship election in the state.
The governor was reacting to the ongoing social media campaign for his second term.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Tever Akase, the governor said he is currently thinking on how to get the state out of the current huge debt and hardship.
He said, “Brothers and sisters, please ignore this unsolicited campaign about 2019. Governor Samuel Ortom has not asked any individual or group of persons to campaign for him ahead of 2019.
“The Governor currently has a mandate of four years and he has not yet done half of the tenure. Governor Ortom is busy with the governance of the state and is not thinking about 2019 which we see as a distraction at the moment.”
Also reacting, the All Progressives Congress Acting Publicity Secretary in the state, Berger Alfred Emberga said the governor had not yet authorized anybody to lead his second term election campaign.
“Governor Ortom has not asked anybody to campaign for him.
“Any attempt to ridicule Gov. Ortom in a sarcastic approach shall not be welcomed,” he said.
