Benue 2019: Paul Orhii’s governorship campaign posters out (PHOTO)

Ahead of the 2019 governorship election in Benue State, the campaign poster of Dr. Paul Orhii, former Director General of National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control have flooded the social media.
One of the campiang posters sighted by IDOMA VOICE bore the image of the ex-NAFDAC boss garbed in a gray top and a bold inscription that read: Benue 2019.
He is running on the platform of the People Democratic Party, PDP.
Orhii was born and raised at Lessel in Benue State of Nigeria. He attended St. Francis College, Otukpo, Benue State, which he successfully completed in 1980 with a “Distinction” in the West African School Certificate Examination.
Higher Education
He was admitted to study Medicine at the University of Jos, Dr. Orhii won a highly competitive scholarship award and became one of the 23 successful candidates selected from a pool of more than 168,000 applicants to study medicine in Russia for the 1982 academic year.
Paul graduated with Honors from the Stavropol State Medical Institute, Russia in 1989, and was immediately offered an opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. in Medicine (emphasis in Chrono-Neuropsy chopharmacology).
That made him the first foreigner ever, to be sponsored by the school and to be awarded a teaching assistantship.
Career
Prior to being appointed into NAFDAC, he served as the “expert witness” to the Federal and Kano State governments in the lawsuit against Pfizer, the US pharmaceutical giant, over the company’s Trovan drug trials in Kano.
He has worked as a lecturer at the University of Jos, Nigeria, and as a Biomedical Scientist at the University of Texas, Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas
He has over 20 years cumulative working experience in the field of medicine in Nigeria and the United States of America.
