People of Benue South Senatorial District have taken their request seeking the support of the Tiv people to be given the opportunity to produce the next Benue State governor to the Begha U Tiv and Paramount Ruler of the Tiv nation, His Royal Majesty, Tor-Tiv, Orchivirigh Prof. James Iorzua Ayatse, urging him to appeal to his children, both home and abroad to allow someone from Benue South, the opportunity to govern the state.
Led by the Paramount Ruler of the Idoma nation, HRM, Och’Idoma IV, Agabaiddu Dr Elias Ikoyi Obekpa, the powerful delegation made up of all the First and Second Class Chiefs from Benue South and other prominent sons and daughters of the Idoma and Igede nation were received warmly by the Tor-Tiv and members of the Tiv Area Traditional Council at his palace in Gboko.
Prof. Ayatse, who relished the strong brotherly relations between the Tiv and Idoma nation, stated that the visit by the people of Benue South will further cement the strong fraternal relationship among the people of the state, adding that the Tiv and Idoma people are brothers and sisters, having co-existed together for several decades.
The Benue South delegation, which came with some dance groups later met behind closed doors with the Begha U Tiv and members of the Tiv Area Traditional Council after some exhilarating performance by the dance groups.
Though the outcome of the closed-door meeting was not disclosed, feelers say it ended well.
