The Youth Directorate of the Benue Rebirth Movement-BRM-YD has in has reacted to the continuous governorship agitation of Hon. Herman Hembe.
The group in the statement said they wish to state categorically the followings on Rt. Hon. Herman Hembe’s ambition to be the flag bearer of the APC gubernatorial ticket for 2023.

Below are the excerpts of the points;

1. That it is the democratic right of Rt. Hon. Herman Hembe to aspire, consult to contest for any position he so wishes to aspire from within his party the All Progressive Congress; we respect that and his consultation that was well received by the structure of his party the APC in Zone C on the 27th February, 2021!

2. That we want Rt. Hon. Herman Hembe and by extension, the APC and any other political party in Benue State to know and bear in mind, the fact that the people of Zone C Senatorial district of Benue State across party lines and compatriots in Zones A and B Senatorial districts have cohesively and adherently agreed that the seat of Governor this time, particularly come 2023 should be zoned to Benue South (Zone C) from all registered political parties in Benue State including the major ones like the PDP and the APC. An agitation that has gained acceptance from 80℅ of Benue Political Stakeholders and Electorates as fair, humane and godly to be done! This acceptance is premises on the fact that the people of Zone C Senatorial district of Benue State under all political parties, have served their Brothers (Compatriots) from Zones A and B Senatorial districts in absolute loyalty, party commitment, mobilization, integration and voted Five consecutive times which produced Governors from Zones A and B respectively in this 4th democratic dispensation from 1999 to date. A total of 21 years period, which would be 24yrs. by 2023, and these Governors served their respective tenures! It could only be politically correct for all Aspirants from Zones A and B, like Rt. Hon. Herman Hembe and all political parties concerned in this case the APC to make positive history by ceding their ambitions and party tickets for the Benue gubernatorial seat to their compatriots in Zone C to balance the political lexicon, correctness and power equations using their own structures, ideas for the first time to serve as Deputy Governor!

3. Also, considering the glaring fact that since the creation of Benue State from the old Benue-Plateau State in 1976, consecutive Military and the Three past democratic dispensations, Zones A and B had the seat of Governor at different times, a total of Twenty Three Years which by addition, would be Forty Seven years by 2023 that Zone C would be politically not considered by democratic consequences and incorrectness to be Governor in Benue State! A situation viewed by many analysts in Benue and Nigeria as undemocratic in the real sense of reward for loyalty, party faithfulness, commitment and sacrifices of the people of Zone C Senatorial district of Benue State!
This political and democratic incorrectness should be corrected by ceding the 2023 Guber tickets across party lines to Zone C!

4. We would refer our Compatriots in Zones A and B particularly those whom like Rt. Hon. Herman Hembe, are nursing the ambition to be Governor of Benue State for the 6th time, to take examples from States like Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, Rivers, Cross River, Abia, Nasarawa, Taraba, Niger, Kogi, Kwara and many others who imbibes in brotherly rotations of their States’ governorship seats to include minorities who served and are still serving their states in all inclusive governance. This way, egalitarianism fairness not equality but equity, tranquility and respect to democratic tenets could and shall be attained in Benue State.

5. We want to advise the people of zone C to remain committed to this vision and goal and never be deterred by the few amongst those whose bellies or mischiefs are their political interests. They pose no threat to our teaming supporters in Zones A and B in this mission to actualize the vision of one Benue for all Benuelites. We however admonishes them to make history and not disrupt it for their selfish and gullible interests. This is 21st century, and we see no impossibility with this mission to making Benue State a 21st century society were all senatorial districts would have rights to contribute their political prowesses in elevating the State to the desired developmental height like its counterparts!

In the coming days, we shall be addressing a Press Conference to this effect!

Thank you and God bless Benue State, God bless the Benue Rebirth Movement-Youth Directorate and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Singed:

Hon. Daniel Atayi Edoache (Cmr.), Director of Youths, Benue Rebirth Movement.

Rt. Cmr. John Acha, Secretary, Benue Rebirth Movement Youth Directorate.
