Benue 2023: Why I won’t contest for governor – Abba Moro declares

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, Sunday afternoon, restated his resolve to continue to work assiduously towards the empowerment and development of Benue South youths.

Senator Moro made the statement at the occassion of The Idoma Young Professionals Round Table organized by the Youth Wing (Nation wide) of Ochetoha K’Idoma, held at Afri Hotel, Abuja. The theme of the event was ‘Audacity of Hope’.

Senator Moro who was the Guest Speaker at the event said youth played pivotal roles in nation building. He said he took time out to attend the event to show his support for Ochetoha K’Idoma and also to pledge his readiness to partner with them for the overall interest of Idomaland.

On the socioeconomic development of Idomaland, the Senator said he had made arrangement for a summit in 2020, headed by Prof. Armstrong Adejor, to put Eggheads together to find out the ways for the socioeconomic development and security of the land, but that the outbreak of COVID-19 thwarted the plan. He assured the youths that he would continue to interface with the relevant Stakeholders with the aim of bringing development to the land.

On the agitation by Benue South to produce Benue Governor in 2023, Senator Moro said there’s no better time for the actualization of the age-long agitation than 2023. He said he would continue to use his resources and goodwill to pursue the agendum, stating that his joy would be complete seeing the emergence of a Benue South person as governor in 2023. He enjoined the youth to go about the agitation with decency, decorum, appeal and persuasion.

On his own ambition in 2023, the Senator said he had no ambition for governorship, but that he would seek re-election to the Senate, since he’s already used to that terrain. He said he’s using the mandate he currently has to the best of his ability as evident in the so many projects he’s facilitating to the land and his outstanding legislative activities.

Comrade Moro appealed to the youth to eschew violence and every form of vices and prepare themselves mentally, physically and emotionally to take up leadership positions as his generation, which is currently on the stage would not be there forever. He said as their Senator, they should always talk to him for the progress of Idoma nation and Benue South at large.
