Caretaker Chairman, Ado Local Government Council, Honourable James Ogaba Oche, has intervened in the incessant power outage in Utonkon area of the local government.
Oche disclosed this to our reporter in a telephone chat Saturday morning, saying, the Utonkon power problems have, to some extent, been resolved.
On the allegation that the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) was responsible for incessant power outage in the area , Oche said, “I personally met with the management of JED PLC in Otukpo to find a lasting solution to the problem. They are my people and I have to intervene on their behalf. And that is what I have done”.
The chairman disclosed that, at the meeting with the regional management of the distribution company, it was discovered that Chief Mike Onoja brought a 200KVA transformer sometimes in February 2019, which was bad and when it was brought to the knowledge of JED Plc, they ordered the contractor to take it way.
“The contractor took it away and brought a 300KVA which was rejected because the capacity can not take the load of the area.
The chairman disclosed that, after the rejection of the 300KVA, “the contractor brought the required transformer which is a 500KVA and now there is constant light in Utonkon”.
A visit to Utonkon town by this reporter shows that the place has become a beehive of activities.
Some respondents who simply identified themselves as Igele and Olong, were all full of appreciation to Chief Mike Okibe for giving them the transformer and the council boss James Oche for interceding on their behalf.
