In an ongoing engagement with stakeholders in his Ministry, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Creativity, Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange, met with a delegation from the Benue State Football Association, led by Chairman Barr. Paul Edeh.
The Commissioner emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to rejuvenating the sports sector, aligning with His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Alia’s vision of social cohesion, economic prosperity, and human capital development through sports.
Plans are in motion to upgrade sporting facilities, creating a conducive environment for talent development and attracting external interest and investment.
Additionally, the Alia administration is set to reintroduce sponsorship for sporting events, including the Governor’s Cup, in the near future.
The Commissioner aims to restore Benue football to its past glory, resembling the formidable days of BCC Lions and Lobi Stars FC. Rt. Hon. Ikyange urged the BSFA to fully support the Governor’s vision and efforts in revitalizing the sporting sector, especially football.
