Key stakeholders within the Benue All Progressives Congress (APC), led by former Senate President Senator Ameh Ebute, have strongly criticized the actions of Local Government Chairmen and the State party chairman for their public attacks on Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Expressing their dissatisfaction in a communique delivered by Chief Ebute in Makurdi, the stakeholders denounced the content of a communique issued by APC Local Government chairmen and the party’s State executive committee. They particularly disapproved of the toxic resolution accusing Gov. Hyacinth Alia of disrespecting party structures in the state.
The stakeholders emphasized their dismay at the failure of the local government party chairmen and the party executive committee to explore internal avenues for dispute resolution before resorting to public statements. They noted that such unnecessary media outings had only worsened a situation that could have been managed internally within the party.
Citing social media communiques by APC local government chairmen and the resolutions of the State Working Committee regarding leadership, meetings, and party activities, the stakeholders alleged a deliberate attempt to distract Governor Alia from fulfilling his campaign promises to the people.
The stakeholders highlighted previous stakeholders’ meetings initiated by Gov. Alia, where party elders and executives passed a vote of confidence in the governor, praising his inclusive leadership style.
They argued that as concerned elders, it was imperative to address the public and urge all party members to refrain from further public statements and actions that could lead to disunity within the party
