A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, Daniel Onjeh has described a recent statement credited to Usman Abubakar, otherwise known as Young Alhaji that he brought former governor of the state, George Akume to the party as untrue.
Onjeh, a former senatorial candidate in Benue South, described Usman as a pathological liar.
The former student unionist in a statement he personally signed on Tuesday warned Abubakar to face his dying political career instead of making crude statements in the media.
He said, There’s a story making the rounds in the past two days, following remarks credited JOHN AGENE now known as ALHAJI USMAN ABUBAKAR DAN MAISHANU (A.K.A “YOUNG ALHAJI”) that he was the one who brought Senator George Akume to the ACN (one of the legacy parties that formed the ruling party APC).
“This claim can only be from a pathological liar and a deluded mind seeking political relevance by all means at all cost!
“This rejoinder would not have been necessary for the fear of being misconstrued as attacking my kinsman from Ogbadibo but Agene’s disinformation, misinformation, deception, malevolent lies and outright deceit has become such a recurring decimal that it will be unpatriotic not to do so. I must set the record straight.
“The truth of the matter is that Chief Audu Ogbeh the current Minister of Agriculture and Mr. Abba Yaro the current APC Chairman Benue State were the two key figures I met in the ACN and should any of them make such a claim it would have been credible.
“In fact in 2010, during the re –registration of ACN members before the Party’s Congress, I was one of the main mobilisers of the exercise in Benue South and I never came across “Young Alhaji” any where in all the nine Local Governments of the Zone as an ACN member, but rather, he was battling for the soul of his membership in ANPP.
“In 2011 when I and other contestants like Sen. Akume picked the ACN form for the Senatorial Primaries, Young Alhaji was still a card carrying member of ANPP. Contrary to his claim, Chief Audu Ogbeh and Senator George Akume, instead brought him ( Young Alhaji) into ACN and subsequently gave him the position of Running Mate to Professor Stephen Ugbah, the then ACN Guber Candidate,on a platter of Gold. Young Alhaji’s relationship with Akume was not only cordial, no Idoma person has benefited from the Senator like himself.
“It calls for wonder what Young Alhaji hopes to achieve with such out right falsehood if not for cheap publicity and political opportunism. Alhaji Usman Abubakar should pursue his political ambition without dragging names into his mudslingings.
“Ideally, politics and morals are inseparable but unfortunately, some desperate politicians turned magicians are willing to hug the crocodile and kiss the snake just to deceive the people. They implore all kinds of divisive sentiments to cow the gullible and convince the ignorant, all in order to achieve political power by all means.
“I am appealing passionately to Young Alhaji, and his likes to eschew the politics of bitterness, dissension, lies, sheer propaganda, and blackmail, and concentrate on issues of development in Benue South and the state in general public. Young Alhaji is clearly a pathological Liar!!!”
