The Benue State House of Assembly Committee on Education yesterday called on the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB to terminate contracts of two projects in Ohimini local government.
The call was made by Hon. Mrs Ngunan Adingi after the lawmakers and the Management of SUBEB inspected ongoing projects in Okpokwu and Ohimini local Government Areas earlier today.
The affected Contractors are Handyman Ltd, handling renovation of a block of three classrooms at RCM Anmoda, and Arrow Head Application, handling construction of a block of three classrooms, office, store and VIP toilet at RCM Primary School Anwule, Ohimini.
The House Members frowned at the delay of contractors to resume work several months after collection of mobilization from SUBEB.
Also in Ohimini, the team visited LGEA Primary School Agboke, where it called on the contractor, Amla & Amla ventures to ensure it constructs the lintel of the classroom block before roofing it as stated in their bill of quantities.
The team had earlier visited LGEA Primary School Amufu, LGEA Primary School Ikomuja and LGEA Primary School Effa-Ugbokolo, all in Okpokwu local Government Area.
At LGEA Primary School Amufu, the team directed the contractor to ensure the ceiling and the Buglary were properly fixed according to specifications.
The Inspection team however expressed total satisfaction with the execution of projects at LGEA Primary School Ikomuja and LGEA Effa-Ugbokolo. The lawmakers called on teachers, pupils and members of the Ikomuja community to ensure they protect the renovated classroom block because the present administration has spent so much on projects across the state.
The lawmakers also commended Samestra Nig.Ltd, the contractor handling the renovation of LGEA Effa-Ugbokolo, in Okpokwu local Government Area.
The Assembly members and SUBEB management during interaction with the members of the community, appreciated them for the support and cooperation given to the contractor. They called on them to continue to partner with Government and management of their school.
Responding on behalf of the Effa community, the community leader, Mr John Odah, appreciated the administration of Governor Samuel Ortom for coming to their aid by renovating a classroom block in their community. He assured the Assembly members of continuous support to the School to enhance the proper education of their children.
