Benue State House of Assembly has approved the dismissal of three local government caretaker chairmen for alleged gross misconduct and embezzlement.
The affected caretaker chairmen are from Ukum, Katsina-Ala, and Gboko Local Government Areas of the state.
Their dismissal was announced during the House session on Tuesday, following the approval of the letter from the state governor.
Speaker of the House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh, read the governor’s letter on the floor and put the question seeking their approval to members, which was upheld.
The dismissed chairmen were directed to hand over to their deputies immediately.
Additionally, the House approved the appointment of new caretaker chairmen: Verlumun Avar, Victor Iorzaa, and Justin Shaku for Gboko, Ukum, and Katsina-Ala LGAs, respectively.
The dismissed chairmen are Tervershima Agber, Gideon Haanongon, and Francis Zazan of Gboko, Ukum, and Katsina-Ala LGAs respectively.
These dismissed chairmen were among the 23 local government chairmen sworn in on December 6, 2023.
