The Facebook user with the username James Anyebe wrote; “The supreme council has initiated a law forbidding married women from wearing Trousers and Mini-skirts in EFEKWO.”

The news elicited mixed reactions.

Replying to the post, a Facebook user, Akor John wrote; “Hope the initiators of this law you guys are celebrating understand what fundamental human rights are? The Constitution of Nigeria reign supreme if there are contradictions. I don’t celebrate what will not last. This is my candid shot.”

Another Facebook user, John O Adoyi wrote; “Is a good development. However, the Council would have allow their consciences to guide and judge them. “Personal opinion”.

Lending his opinion, Adoyi Gideon wrote; “Even in sharia law immorality & extra marital affairs still abound. Trousers,shorts,mini-wares ,wrappers, sexy-dress & corporate/native outfits has nothing wrong on their own. if used with all sense of decency & modesty either privately or publicly according to functions with reverence to God’s law and unlawful seduction . _Personal Opinion.”

A Facebook user, MC Prime wrote; “Backwardness.

Efekwo is 7 yrs behind the world like Ethiopia.

The world has moved on oooo.

That law looks like Sharia law or have they Islamized Efekwo too?”

Another Facebook user, Mary Ameh Ocheme wrote: “Let them make sure they buy rappers and share for the married women from time to time, i hate what i dont like.”

Efekwo is a community in Otukpa, the headquarter of Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State. It’s the seat of Federal Medical Center, Makurdi, Efekwo outreach center.
