Benue :Court orders arrest warrant for Nago, 5 others

The magistrate sitting at the Chief Magistrate Court 1 in Makurdi, today issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Mr. Raymond Nago and five others for jumping bail.

The magistrate who arrived at decision after the 6 persons who are standing trial for fraud and engaging in illegal tax activities jumped bail while also refusing to attend trials.

The 6 persons; Asema Raymond, Achinbee Atim, Japhet Tabulo, Peter Adikwu, Bem Yagber and Atoba Terna were absent in court and the Magistrate at CMC1 ordered for their bench warrant.

The case has been adjourned to 18.3.2021 for further hearing.

It could be recalled that Mr. Raymond Nago and 9 other were apprehended by the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) taskforce on illegal tax activities while allegedly fraudulently extorting unsuspecting tax payers under the guise of an inexistent “Covid 19 Tax”.
