In pursuance of the directives of the Presidency and the National Boundary Commission as precondition for bringing to a permanent solution the conflicts between communities of Benue and Ebonyi States, the Peace and Security Committee constituted severally by the two states held a meeting in Enugu yesterday.
The essence of the meeting was to evaluate the efforts of the separate committees on their sensitization efforts of the area to be demarcated. Leader of the Benue delegation at the meeting, James Oche intimated that on their part and led by the Ado Committee Chairman, HRH Chief Chris Onumah they had done a thorough job and further informed of readiness for the process to proceed.
The Ebonyi committee also reported a work done and intimated that assurances were secured from the boarder communities. The Ado Committee informed that the Alomo community where crisis broke out in the 2008 demarcation effort needed more attention to prevent the previous occurrence and the committees agreed to jointly visit the community.
The meeting which was held at Predia Hotel and Suites, Behind Spring Of Life School, by Ebeano Housing Estate, Bisala Road, New-Haven Junction, by Otigba Junction, Enugu, Enugu State had in attendance from Ebonyi the following; Apostle A. Obaji, Chairman of the Ebonyi Wing of the Committee, Hon. Mrs. Nwogbaga Chinyere, Chairperson from Ebonyi committee and other members of the Ebonyi wing.
The members of the Benue Wing of the Committee are Chief Christopher Onumah the Chairman, James Oche Member ( Ado LGA Chairman), Sam Obande as Secretary, Chief Ogenyi Ocheme, Chief Ochapa Omeruah, Chief Agbo Otte, Surv. Adaga ( Benue State Surveyor General), Z T Ade ( Benue State Boundary Commissioner), Martins Agbo, Surv Oiyinu, Mercy Udenyi, DPO, DSS, Philip Okpekwu and Dr. A P Oketa.
