Benue State Executive Council today honoured Benue born Super Falcons striker, Francisca Ordega and Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi for making the state proud at the international level.
Governor Samuel Ortom, his Deputy Engineer Benson Abounu and other members of the Council gave the two footballers a standing ovation for being true ambassadors of Benue State and the country in general.
Governor Ortom said the outstanding performances of Ordega and Onazi for the national teams and their respective clubs had put the name of the state on the global map of sports.
He urged them to sustain their discipline and hard work, assuring them that Benue State Government would continue to support all its sons and daughters in sports home and abroad.
The honourees in separate remarks expressed gratitude for the honour done them by the Sate Executive Council, saying they were spurred to do more.
While Ogenyi Onazi pledged his resolve to attract investment opportunities back home, Francisca Ordega appealed for support from the government for a female football team she intends to establish in the state.
