Benue: Five things you need to know about Agro-Ranger troops commissioned by Gov Ortom

On Tuesday, February 4, 2020, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State commissioned Agro-Rangers, a special operations unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

  1. It is a special operations unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
  2. The troops would help curb the influx of herdsmen in Benue State.
  3. Agro-Rangers unit was initiated by the Federal Government to address security challenges in agricultural and agro-allied industries, particularly in rural communities.
  4. The special operatives have been trained in counter-terrorism and unconventional warfare
  5. The presence of the rangers would help curtail conflicts between herders and farming communities.
