Former Vice President and chieftain of All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar, says the massive flooding in Benue state that has led to the displacement of over 100,000 fellow Nigerians is a harrowing experience and that he is moved to sympathize with the people of Benue State.
The Waziri Adamawa said that the catastrophic flooding in Benue also happening as the nation marks Eid-el-Kabir (eid-al-Adha), places an even greater duty of care on all of us who participate in this feast of sacrifice, which marks Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his son.
A statement released by the Atiku Media Office quoted the former Vice President, who is also the Zege Mule U Tiv, as urging that just as the patriarch Ibrahim made sacrifices for humanity, we all should consider sacrificially doing our part to come to the aid of our brothers and sisters in Benue.
In this regard, Atiku is thus making a donation of Five Million Naira to the relief efforts for the flood victims in Benue state, according to the statement and he also calls on other Nigerians to be their brother’s keeper in his time of need.
Atiku Abubakar noted that it is most gratifying that the Federal Government, through the National Emergency Management Agency, has mobilized human and material resources to the affected areas and commends President Muhammadu Buhari for this intervention.
