In a long-anticipated move, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hyacinth Dajoh, has at last unveiled the list of commissioner-nominees put forth by Governor Hyacinth Alia. The list, initially shrouded in secrecy, was transmitted to the Assembly for screening on July 27, sparking curiosity and speculation. The Governor had maintained that the nominees’ identities would be disclosed during the screening process.
This approach drew criticism, particularly from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which accused Governor Alia of presenting a “ghost list” to the Assembly. The lack of transparency ignited a political firestorm, with debates raging over the authenticity of the nominee list.
However, clarity has now emerged as the Speaker disclosed the full roster of commissioner-nominees on Tuesday. The unveiling sets the stage for an imminent screening process, scheduled to commence on Thursday, August 10.
