Benue: Gov Alia moves moves to end corruption in education sector

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has vowed to eliminate corruption within the state’s education sector.

Governor Alia made this commitment during a public lecture and book launch organized by Dr. Terna Francis, the Director General of the Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency. The event’s theme was “Nigeria: 25 Years of Uninterrupted Democracy.”

The governor emphasized his administration’s dedication to addressing all forms of corruption in the education sector and upgrading it to meet global standards. He noted that combating corruption requires more than mere statements, acknowledging that the issue has deeply infiltrated both families and the broader society.

Governor Alia stressed the need for an attitudinal change to achieve significant progress in the ongoing fight against corruption in the country.

“Change must begin with all of us; let us be the mirror of what we anticipate. When we talk of moral corruption at the national level, we should remember that it starts right from primary schools to homes, associations, and the streets. But we will start somewhere, and the starting point will be the education sector,” he said.
